HDSSB or Hrvatska demokratska stanka Slavonije i Baranje
(Croatian Democratic Party of Slavonia and Baranja) is a split
party from HDZ lead by Branimir Glava, once a main HDZ
figure in Slavonia (i.e. City of Osijek), who since around 2000
split from the HDZ mainstream and formed a separate party with
some influence in Slavonia and Baranja (including occasional
participation in the Osijek city government). In the mean time
its leader, Glava has been a figure of several political
scandals and is accused on war crimes and war time profit and
other accusations that are currently still all in the court (and
some of the time he was in prison waiting for the trial).
An article in "Jutarnji
list", 20.03.2009, considering alleged Glava'
malversations regarding buying housing and office spaces, shows a
nice photo
of the flags in front of what I believe is the main office of the
HDSSB.
The flag is red with the coat of arms of Slavonia in a
semi-circular shield bordered yellow. The same flag is shown on
the party
web site and a number of other photos. (This is not the
historical flag of Slavonia, but it is quite conceivable that the
party uses this as "the flag of Slavonia").
However, the party
statutes, in its Article 3 describe the party emblem and the
flag. The flag is described as simply being red, in ratio 1:2,
with the party emblem in the middle.
The emblem is described in many details, the one as shown in the
header of the party web site:
initials of the party name of red letters HDSSB bordered golden
and under them in blackk full name Hrvatski Demokratski Savez
Slavonije i Baranje. Across the letters HD in the initials is
tpward heraldic dexter slanted golden corn ear. Beneath the party
name in the middle are three squares set on their points,
covering partially each other from left to right: a blue sqoare
with three stars symbolising the EU flag, a rhombus (!) with four
visible red squares in white field symbolizing the Coat of Arms
of Croatia, and a square divided with a wavy white line into top
red field with a golden running marten and lower blue field
toward herladic dexter layed golden corn ear. To the left and the
right of the group of rhumbi is extending the Croatian wattle.
The letters are inscribed in the Helvetica script.
A third kind of a flag, using the elements from the party emblem,
but now more sensibly enlarged is to be seen here
and here
(displayed together with the "flag of Slavonia", the
national flag and an "orange flag", which is the flag
of the city of Balice where this was taken.
